Japan Shows Interest in Importing High-Value, Fashionable Apparels from Bangladesh

A high-level delegation from the Japan Textile Importers Association (JTIA) met with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan on Monday (10 November 2025). During the meeting, Japanese buyers expressed keen interest in importing high-value, fashionable, and value-added apparel products from Bangladesh.

The discussion focused on expanding bilateral trade, particularly enhancing Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the Japanese market. The BGMEA President urged Japanese buyers to increase their sourcing from Bangladesh, highlighting the country’s strong manufacturing capabilities, skilled workforce, and globally competitive apparel sector.

BGMEA leaders also requested JTIA’s cooperation in easing the visa process for Bangladeshi businessmen traveling to Japan, which they believe would strengthen business-to-business engagement and investment opportunities between the two countries.

To help reduce lead time and improve supply chain efficiency, the JTIA delegation recommended further simplification of Bangladesh’s customs procedures and enhancement of operational efficiency at Chattogram Port.

From BGMEA’s side, President Mahmud Hasan Khan was joined by Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan (Babul), Vice President Md. Shihab Uddowza Chowdhury, Directors Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Nafis-Ud-Doula, Sumaiya Islam, Fahima Akhter, Zowardar Mohammad Hosne Komar Alam, Rumana Rashid, and Mohammad Sohel.
