Twins injured in Milestone crash return home after three and a half months of treatment

After being treated at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for about three and a half months, 10-year-old twins Sarinah Jahan Saira and Saibah Jahan Saima, who were injured in the training plane crash at Milestone School and College, returned home. So far, 33 people who were burned in the plane crash have returned home after receiving treatment.

Doctors, nurses and staff of the hospital bid farewell to the two children at the office of the director of the institute this Wednesday (November 12, 2025) morning.

At the time, Mohammad Nasir Uddin, director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said, “57 people injured in the Milestone School plane crash received treatment from this institute. Of them, 20 died while undergoing treatment. One has been sent to a mental hospital for trauma management. Three are still undergoing treatment, but they are all out of danger.”

Of the two twins, Saira was admitted to the hospital with 30 percent and Saima with 15 percent burns.

Director Mohammad Nasir Uddin said, ‘Our doctors, nurses and other staff have provided sincere care to every burn patient. They have worked hard. We have also been given the maximum support required by the government.

‘The hospital authorities are in regular contact with the injured who have returned home and are providing follow-up treatment,’ he added.

At the same time, he also thanked the foreign doctors from Singapore, India, China and the UK who have assisted in the treatment of the injured.

Yasin Majumder and Aklima Akhter, parents of the twins, expressed gratitude for the sincerity of the hospital authorities and the cooperation of the interim government.

On July 21, an Air Force training fighter jet crashed into a two-story building of Milestone School and College. A total of 36 people were killed and 124 were injured in the incident. The investigation committee identified the pilot of the fighter jet as the cause of the accident.
