On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Glorious Green March, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bangladesh hosted a special ceremony on Thursday (6 November 2025) at a hotel in the capital.

The event was graced by diplomats from various countries. Mr. Bouchaib Ez-zahri, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Morocco, warmly welcomed all invited guests to the celebration.

Mohammad Shajibul-Al-Rajib, Editor of Business in Bangladesh, was also invited to the event. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Bouchaib Ez-zahri for the invitation and hospitality.

In his keynote address, Mr. Bouchaib Ez-zahri highlighted Morocco’s continued commitment to the fundamental values of national unity and social cohesion.

Quoting from the message of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, delivered on 31 October 2025 following the historic UN Security Council Resolution 2797, he emphasized that the resolution endorses Morocco’s autonomy plan under its sovereignty as the foundation for a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.

He noted that, in recognition of this historic milestone, His Majesty King Mohammed VI has declared 31st October as a new national holiday—Eid al-Wahda (Unity Day)—to honor the progress and significance of this turning point in Morocco’s national history.
The Chargé d’Affaires also highlighted that this year’s celebration is especially meaningful as it coincides with the 70th anniversary of Morocco’s independence, alongside the 50th anniversary of the Green March—two defining events that symbolize the nation’s journey of sacrifice, dignity, and progress.

The ceremony concluded with the screening of a documentary showcasing the historic Green March, an event deeply cherished by the Moroccan people and their kings.
The program ended with warm appreciation from the attendees and reaffirmed the strong bond between Morocco and Bangladesh.
