BNP announces candidates for 237 seats in 2026 parliamentary elections, Khaleda Zia to contest three seats

Today, Monday (November 3, 2025), the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) announced the names of candidates for 237 seats in the first phase of the 13th parliamentary elections at a press conference at the Chairperson’s office in Gulshan. Mirza Fakhrul read out the names of the candidates.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest elections from Dinajpur-3, Bogra-7 and Feni-1 seats. The party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will contest from Bogra-6; and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will contest from Thakurgaon-3.

Earlier, a meeting of the National Standing Committee was held at the Chairperson’s office in Gulshan at 12 noon to finalize the list of candidates. The meeting was presided over by the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, who joined virtually from London. After a three-and-a-half-hour meeting, the BNP Secretary General arrived at the press conference.
