A meeting was held with visiting Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce, Textiles and Jute and Civil Aviation and Tourism.
The meeting was held at the office of the Commerce Adviser at the Secretariat today, Monday (October 27, 2025) afternoon.

The meeting laid special emphasis on further strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. In addition, the need to increase the existing trade volume and identify new areas of investment was discussed in detail.
Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin said that there are historical and cultural ties between the two countries. Now we need to elevate economic relations to the same level.
He said that the Bangladesh-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission, which has been inactive for a decade and a half, has been implemented to increase trade and investment cooperation with Pakistan. He stressed on removing the limitations of bilateral trade and increasing commercial facilities.
Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik said that there is immense potential for trade and investment between Bangladesh and Pakistan. The potential has not been fully utilized. At the time, he pledged to take this relationship to new heights by increasing trade facilities.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman were present at the meeting.
