The National Citizens Party (NCP) held a meeting with its chief advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus on the overall preparations for the upcoming national elections, the method of implementing the July Charter, the referendum and the roadmap for the July murder trial.
A four-member delegation led by NCP convener Nahid Islam participated in the meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday (October 22, 2025) afternoon. The other members of the delegation were the party’s northern region chief organizer Sarjis Alam, senior joint convener Samanta Sharmin and joint convener Khaled Saifullah.

Planning Advisor Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul and Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan were present in the meeting from the government side.
The meeting had a long discussion on the implementation of the July Charter, the referendum schedule and the roadmap for the trial of the July massacre. The chief advisor urged the NCP to sign the July Charter and said, “This charter is a valuable asset for the nation; everyone’s participation is important here.”
He also said that the National Consensus Commission has already started working on the implementation of the charter and the opinions of all political parties will be taken on this issue.
NCP convener Nahid Islam said in the meeting, “We want an assurance of the implementation of the July Charter and the July Charter before the elections. The government must take firm steps in this regard.” He said that the NCP has already sent a formal letter for discussions with the commission.
The chief advisor assured the delegation that the government is committed to implementing the goals of the July Charter and maximum efforts will be made to make the upcoming national elections fair and impartial. He also said that if there is any reshuffle in the administration, he himself will directly supervise it so that impartiality is maintained during the elections.
