Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar demands legal basis for July Charter in November referendum

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar said, “Bangladesh is moving towards a positive change. We signed the July Charter so that no elected government in the future becomes authoritarian or dictatorial. For this, six organs of the government including public administration, judiciary, electoral system, and anti-corruption commission have been restructured.”

He also said, “Based on the discussions of the political parties, we have reached consensus on a total of 84 issues, which is known as the ‘July Charter’. Discussions are underway on the remaining 20 issues. Our demand to the government and the chief advisor of the consensus commission is to ensure the legal basis for the July Charter through a referendum in November so that the upcoming elections are transparent and acceptable.”

He made these remarks while addressing a rally of representatives of Dhamalia, Raghunathpur and Rudaghara Unions of Dumuria Upazila at the Shahpur regional office of Khulna-5 constituency on Tuesday (October 21) morning.

The rally was presided over by Dumuria Upazila Ameer Maulana Moktar Hossain and moderated by Acting Secretary Abdur Rashid Biswas.

District Jamaat Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Professor Mia Golam Quddus, District Working Committee Member Professor Golam Mostafa Al Mujahid, District Chhatra Shibir President Yusuf Fakir and others were special guests.

Mia Golam Parwar addressed a women’s rally in Shahpur Gazipara at 10:30 am. After mass contact at Shahpur Bazar in the afternoon, he joined the Hindu rally and participated in a mass contact and opinion exchange meeting at Thukra Amvita Bazar in the afternoon.

The Hindu rally was presided over by Rangpur Union President Maulana Abdul Mannan Gazi and conducted by Union Hindu Committee President Tarun Kumar Sarkar.

Mia Golam Parwar said, “All the conspiracies of the Taghut must be confronted with intellect and moral strength. We must respond to the false propaganda of the opposition by acquiring knowledge of information technology. Islami Chhatra Shibir is leading the country’s educational institutions—they will play a role in the ballot revolution in the next elections.”

He also said, “Jamaat does not occupy land or enclosures, does not mine sand. If it comes to power, no person in the country will be unemployed. Employment will be created through technical education. If the state is run according to the laws of Allah, both Hindus and Muslims will be well.”

Stating that the fate of the people of the country has not changed even during the long rule of Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party in the 54 years of independence, Golam Parwar said, “They have changed their own fate, not that of the country. This time, give Jamaat-e-Islami a chance—we will prove that the country can also run without bribery, extortion and terrorism.”
