309 more Bangladeshis return from Libya

309 irregular Bangladeshis who voluntarily wanted to repatriate from Tripoli and surrounding areas of Libya were brought back to the country today through the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and in cooperation with the Libyan government and the International Organization for Migration. They were brought home on a chartered flight of Fly Oya International at 10:30 am on Friday (October 10, 2025).

Most of the repatriated Bangladeshis entered Libya illegally by sea to Europe after being lured by human traffickers. Many of them were abducted and tortured in Libya at different times.

Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other concerned ministries and the International Organization for Migration received the repatriated Bangladeshi citizens at the airport. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested them to share their harrowing experiences with everyone to raise public awareness.

Each repatriated person is provided with some food items and first aid by the International Organization for Migration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the International Organization for Migration are working together to ensure the safe repatriation of Bangladeshi citizens detained in various detention centers in Libya.
