After a long seven years, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia visited the grave of party founder and former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman. She went to the tomb and recited the Holy Quran, recited Fateha and participated in prayers.
Khaleda Zia reached the tomb of martyred President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital at around 11pm on Wednesday (October 8). She spent some time sitting in her car there. After offering prayers, she returned to her Gulshan residence ‘Firoza’ at around 12:30am.
Khaleda Zia was accompanied by her family members and close friends at that time. Present were Nasrin Ahmed, wife of the late Major (Retd.) Saeed Eskander, Kaniz Fatema, wife of his younger brother Engineer Shamim Eskander, and other family members.
In addition, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member and Personal Physician Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder, Dr. AFM Siddiqui, Dr. Zafar Ahmed and several other top leaders of the party were present.
