Next February’s national election will be a festival of the nation’s rebirth: Chief Adviser

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said that the progress made by the country’s political parties towards consensus through the National Consensus Commission will be a unique example not only for Bangladesh but also for the entire world. He made it clear that the national election will be held next February and it will be a ‘festival of the nation’s rebirth.’

He made this statement at the ongoing dialogue of the National Consensus Commission with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Sunday (September 14, 2025).

Professor Yunus said, ‘We have repeatedly said that the election will be held in February, the election will be held in the first half of February. It will be a festival election, if we can decide through consensus. This election is not just an election, it will be the rebirth of the nation.’

Meanwhile, Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul, National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, BNP Standing Committee Member Salauddin Ahmed, Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad, NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, among others, delivered speeches. The program was moderated by Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor (Consensus Building).
