Denmark and Bangladesh Working Together to Support Safe, Green and Resilient Food Systems in Bangladesh

Denmark has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Bangladesh in building safer, greener, and more resilient food systems. This week, Christian Brix Møller, Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh, paid a landmark visit to the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) headquarters in Dhaka—the first ever by an ambassador.

Ambassador Møller was received by Director General S. M. Ferdous Alam and his team, who guided him through BSTI’s laboratories and testing facilities. The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries also joined the visit, reflecting the strong Bangladesh–Denmark partnership and shared optimism for further collaboration.

The visit emphasized common priorities, including:

Strengthening food safety and sustainable production

Promoting knowledge and skill-sharing between Danish and Bangladeshi experts

Ensuring products meet legislative standards and enhance a business-friendly environment

Since 2024, Bangladesh and Denmark have been working under the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) Project, which aims to improve regulatory frameworks, build institutional capacity, and promote safer and more sustainable food production.

Marking over five decades of trusted bilateral partnership, Denmark reiterated its support for Bangladesh’s journey toward resilient food systems that ensure consumer safety, export competitiveness, and sustainable growth.
