Canada-Bangladesh High-Level Workshop on Improving Migration and Border Management

Ajit Singh, High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh, and Lance Bono, Country Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) – UN Migration Bangladesh, jointly organized a high-level workshop on improving migration and border management in Dhaka.

The workshop was attended by Lutfe Siddiqui, Special Envoy of the Principal Advisor, and Ghulam Rasul, Additional Inspector General, and pledged to work together to build closer people-to-people ties with Canada and Bangladesh’s close partner countries.

Canada is funding various IOM projects in Bangladesh to strengthen border management, increase mobility across borders, combat transnational crime, provide gender-sensitive services to ensure safe and regular migration, and build capacity in the rehabilitation of migrants and returnees.

The Canadian High Commissioner expressed hope to continue working together to establish closer people-to-people ties between Canada and Bangladesh.
