All preparations are in place to conduct Durga Puja peacefully – Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs and Agriculture Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community. Like last year, all preparations are in place to conduct Sharadiya Durga Puja peacefully this year too. The advisor said this while briefing reporters after a meeting on security and law and order on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja-2025 celebration in the meeting room of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (September 08, 2025).

The advisor said, ‘To maintain law and order, along with the government, the Puja organizing committee will also keep a 24-hour surveillance system at each pavilion, with three people during the day and four at night. Ansar members will also be present at each pavilion at all times so that there is no problem. We have also developed a new app. Through it, any kind of incident can be verified and fact-checking can also be done. In case of any untoward incident, measures are also kept in the app so that immediate remedial measures can be taken.’

The advisor said that fairs are often held in the vicinity on the occasion of puja, so these should not be held in any condition. If there is no fair, then small temporary shops can be set up, they can be set up with permission from the puja committee.

All forces will be deployed for the security of the mandap; armed forces, Ansar, BGB, RAB and police will be deployed. The responsibility of security of the puja mandap on the border lies with the BGB. There will also be police there, but the BGB will have a greater role. And the Ansar will be everywhere, the advisor said.

The advisor also said that there is initial information that puja can be held in approximately 33,000 mandap across the country. If you create mandap outside the list and give a list of them in advance, it will be easier to keep law and order forces deployed there. The immersion should be done by 7:00 PM and the queue should be fixed in the capital Dhaka.

In response to a question from journalists, the advisor said, the organizers of the puja have not expressed any concerns, it was peaceful last time too, and it will be this time too. This time, about three lakh Ansar will be deployed. Police will also be present at some pavilions.

At this time, special assistant to the chief advisor Md. Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani and senior officials of various law enforcement agencies were present.
