Chief Adviser calls on international community to play more effective role in resolving Rohingya crisis

Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, has called on the international community to play a more effective role in resolving the Rohingya crisis by presenting seven proposals.

He made this call in his speech at the Rohingya Stakeholders’ Dialogue in Cox’s Bazar on Monday (August 25, 2025). He said that effective steps must be taken now to stop the ongoing persecution and displacement of the Rohingya.

The seven-point proposals that Professor Yunus presented in his speech for a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis include formulating a realistic roadmap for the rapid, safe, dignified and sustainable return of the Rohingya, continuing donor support, calling on the Myanmar authorities and the Arakan Army to ensure the safety and livelihood of the Rohingya, constructive dialogue with the Rohingya and re-establishing their rights, an active role of the international community, including ASEAN, taking a strong stand against genocide, and accelerating accountability in the International Court of Justice.

A three-day international dialogue ‘Stakeholders’ Dialogue: Takeaways to the High-Level Conference on the Rohingya Situation’ has begun in Cox’s Bazar from Sunday to highlight the Rohingya crisis more strongly to the world community.

The dialogue, organized at the local hotel Bay Watch today, was formally inaugurated by the Chief Advisor.

Among others, Disaster Management and Relief Advisor Farooq-e-Azam, Bir Pratik, High Representative for Rohingya Affairs and National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Assistant High Commissioner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Rauf Mazu spoke at the event.

Diplomats from different countries, leaders of various political parties including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP, international experts, academicians, representatives of various international organizations including the UN and the Rohingya community attended the dialogue.
