The Ministry of Labor and Employment has awarded ‘Green Factory Award 2025’ to 30 industrial establishments in recognition of the country’s environment-friendly industrialization. The awards were officially presented at a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Tuesday (June 24).
Adviser to the Ministry of Labor and Shipping, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, was present as the chief guest at the ceremony. Adviser to the Ministry of Industries and Housing, Adilur Rahman Khan, was present as the special guest. Secretary to the Ministry of Labor, AHM Shafiquzzaman presided over the ceremony. Inspector General of the Department of Factories and Establishments Inspection, Omar Md. Imrul Mohsin, and President of the Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF), Ardashir Kabir, also spoke at the ceremony.
This year’s award was given under the ‘Green Factory Award Policy-2020’. 30 companies were selected based on their eco-friendly activities, energy saving, waste management and safe working environment in 16 industrial sectors.
Charka Textile Limited, Fakir Fashion Limited, Square Fashion, Tarasima Apparels and Aco-Tex Limited received awards in the ready-made garments sector. In the textile sector, Akij Textile Mills, Pioneer Denim, KDS Textile (Unit-2) and 4H Dyeing and Printing Limited received awards.
In the electrical and electronic products sector, Transcom Electronics, Fair Electronics and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited received awards. In the automobile sector, Pragati Industries Limited of Chittagong was the only company to receive the honor.
In the food processing sector, Akij Food and Beverage and Habiganj Agro Limited received awards. In the tea industry, Zerin Tea Garden and Mirzapur Tea Garden won the award. In addition, Suniverse Footwear Limited (leather industry), Karupanya Rangpur (jute industry), X Ceramics (ceramics), Remark HB and Square Toiletries (cosmetics), and SKF Pharmaceuticals (pharmaceutical industry) won the award.
In the shipbuilding and shipbreaking industry, PHP Shipbreaking and Recycling, Khulna Shipyard and KR Ship Recycling Yard were selected. In the cement sector, Seven Circle (Bangladesh) Limited and BSRM Steels Limited won the award in the steel industry. In addition, Adji Trims Limited won the Green Factory Award in the trims and accessories sector.
Each awardee was given a crest, certificate and a check of one lakh taka. In addition, a booklet titled ‘Green Factory Award 2025’ was unveiled on this occasion, which includes brief descriptions of the nominated institutions.
