The 1st meeting of the ‘Parliamentary Committee’ of the 13th National Parliament was held on Saturday (28 March 2026) at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of the Committee Chairman and Chief Whip of the Bangladesh National Parliament, Md. Nurul Islam.
Committee members Rakibul Islam, Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, Mohammad Koyshar Ahmed, Md. Shahidul Islam, Nayar Yusuf Ahmed, S, M, Jahangir Hossain, Md. Saiful Alam and Md. Abul Hasnat participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the issues of Rules 250 and 251 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Parliament of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and related matters; Progress of the work of the Civil, E/M and Wood Factory Division related to the renovation and repair of the Parliament Member Building located at Manik Mia Avenue and the Parliament Member Building located at Nakhalpara; Renovation and repair of 156 office rooms located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar (MP Hostel); posting/attaching of sufficient specialist doctors and medical officers to the Medical Center of the National Parliament to ensure emergency medical services (24 hours) to the members of parliament; strengthening of 24-hour security system in the flats located in Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara and posting of the manpower assigned for the buildings located in Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara to the members’ building branches as per the previous custom were discussed.
The meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the wife of the Speaker of the National Parliament of Bangladesh and prayed that the Almighty Allah grant the deceased the highest place in Paradise and grant her family the strength to bear this grief. Prayers were offered by praying for the mercy of the Almighty Allah on the people of Bangladesh in the journey of the new parliament.
The meeting directed the members of the 13th National Parliament to prepare, repair and make necessary repairs to the furniture of the accommodation building as soon as possible. Instructions were given to be extremely careful to ensure that the quality of each piece of furniture was good.
The meeting recommended that the committee formed to identify the problem of the sound system of the Parliament session room submit a report by April 3, 2026 with recommendations for its resolution.
In order to modernize the National Parliament Bhaban Medical Center and expand the scope of medical services, it was recommended to appoint doctors required for cardiac treatment, purchase equipment, purchase ICU ambulances, purchase morgue freezing vehicles and purchase medicines from reputable companies.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, Additional Chief Engineer, Public Works Department officials, Additional Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, Sergeant at Arms and other concerned officers and employees.
