A two-week Peshawari Food Festival has begun at Hotel Sarina in Dhaka. The festival is presenting a diverse taste experience for food lovers through traditional and delicious Peshawari dishes prepared by Pakistani chefs.
The recently organized festival was inaugurated by Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider. Representatives of the business community, media personnel, members of civil society and food lovers were present at the inauguration ceremony.








At the ceremony, High Commissioner Imran Haider praised Hotel Sarina for organizing the food festival. He said that Pakistani food is well known around the world for its rich taste, aroma and diversity. The recent start of serving authentic Pakistani food in several restaurants in Bangladesh is a reflection of the popularity of Pakistani food among the people of this country.
He said that the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh have long-standing cultural and family ties. This relationship can serve as a strong foundation for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors between the two countries. Such arrangements can play an important role in promoting halal tourism, people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges.
Highlighting the growing potential of bilateral trade, the High Commissioner said that there is a huge scope for expanding mutually beneficial trade between the two countries in the agricultural sector. Various essential agricultural products including rice are being exported from Pakistan to Bangladesh. At the same time, ways are being prepared for importing various agricultural products including pineapple, jute and betel leaves from Bangladesh to Pakistan.
He said that there is a need to develop closer communication and relations between the business communities of the two countries to harness the real potential of bilateral trade. To this end, he called on Bangladeshi agribusinessmen and related professionals to participate in FoodAg 2026 to be held in Karachi, Pakistan from 23 to 26 November 2026.
Imran Haider also reminded about the direct air connection between Dhaka and Karachi and invited the people of Bangladesh to visit Pakistan. He said that a visit to Pakistan offers an opportunity to enjoy the country’s diverse and delicious cuisine, rich cultural heritage, and captivating natural beauty.
