Staff Correspondent:
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, we want to build a new Bangladesh by changing the course of 54 years of failed politics. He expressed optimism and said that the journey of a new Bangladesh will begin on the 12th.
He said these things as the chief guest at a public meeting of the 11-party electoral unity organized at the public field in Baufal Upazila of Patuakhali on Friday (February 6, 2026) on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, those who could not prove their honesty in the past and those who are still failing to prove it, have no moral right to ask for votes from the people. He said, one party after another in this country has been given the responsibility of running the state. Everyone said – nothing has happened, this time we will do everything. But none of them could do it or did not want to do it. The living witness of which is the 180 million people of Bangladesh.
He further said, the new sun that will rise on the 13th will rise with a new Bangladesh on its shoulders. The ten fingers of our two hands will be clean from all kinds of corruption and looting. We do not do litigation and business, and we will not allow anyone to do so in the future. The opportunity to loot the stock market will not be given. The way to loot development project money and smuggle it abroad will also be blocked.
The Jamaat Ameer said, you will no longer have to take to the streets for all the deprivation and lack of rights of the people. Your rights will be delivered to your doorsteps on the basis of all fairness and justice.
Highlighting the role of the youth, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, our young society wanted a discrimination-free Bangladesh. To realize that dream, two votes will have to be cast this time. One is a ‘yes’ vote in the referendum – which means independence or freedom. Another vote is for forming a government.
