Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we want to take Bangladesh forward: State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku

Desk Report:

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock; Agriculture and Food Ministry Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said that although there are precedents of other political parties in the country taking a stand against the expectations and feelings of the people at different times, BNP has always followed the sentiments of the people. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we want to take Bangladesh forward with the trust and support of the people.

The State Minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the ‘five-day awareness course’ for newly recruited 44th BCS (Livestock) cadre officers organized at the BCS Livestock Academy premises in Savar on Sunday (February 22, 2026).

The State Minister said that BNP has never taken a stand against the feelings and aspirations of the people of the country. Starting from the declaration of great independence in 1971, the party has played an important role in various democratic and rights-based movements in the country. He said that BNP’s role was also visible in the movements against human rights and discrimination, including the Sepoy-People’s Revolution on November 7, 1975. Democracy was re-established in the 1990 mass movement under the leadership of national leader Begum Khaleda Zia. BNP also led the latest 2024 mass movement.

The State Minister further said that due to the lack of proper management of industrial waste, the country’s rivers are being polluted, which is destroying the environmental balance. In this context, if agriculture-based and environmentally friendly industrialization can be developed, on the one hand the economy will be strong, and on the other hand the environmental balance will also be preserved. Therefore, the country will be developed only if the agriculture-based economy is prosperous.

Urging the newly appointed cadre officials to fulfill their duties as servants of the state, the State Minister said, you are officials of the state – not of any individual or party; protecting the interests of the state is your main responsibility. He instructed the officials to fulfill their duties with honesty, dedication and professionalism at the field level including the upazila.

The State Minister further said that in order to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh, everyone must demonstrate responsible behavior and efficiency from their respective positions. He called on everyone to work together to build a livable, developed and non-discriminatory country for future generations.

The program was presided over by Director General of the Department of Livestock Dr. Md. Abu Sufian. Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber spoke as a special guest. Senior officials of the ministry and the department, along with trainees, were present at the time.
