Ulkasemi, Bangladesh’s pioneering semiconductor design company, officially inaugurated the Ulkasemi VLSI Training Institute (UVTI) today to build a skilled workforce for Bangladesh’s emerging role in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

The ceremony was graced by Mr. Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, as Chief Guest . The event was attended by distinguished faculty members from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, United International University, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), and alongside industry leaders and aspiring engineers.

Target 5,000 engineers, market 1 trillion dollars The company’s CEO Mohammad Enayetur Rahman attended the ceremony He took the initiative to establish this training center by prioritizing the possibility of creating huge employment opportunities in the country’s semiconductor sector by 2030. He said, “Currently, more than 570 employees are working at Ulkasemi. This is likely to increase to 1,000 by 2026-27 and he dreams of working with 5,000 engineers by 2030 and he hopes that Ulkasemi VLSI Training Institute (UVTI) will play a helpful role in achieving this goal.” This initiative will help in the country’s ‘Smart Bangladesh’ vision and ensure Bangladesh’s participation in the global semiconductor market worth 1 trillion dollars.
The chief guest Mr. Faiz Ahmed Tayyab said that he is aware of the potential of the semiconductor industry in the future economy of Bangladesh and various activities are being taken by the government to further enrich this industry.

Ulkasemi VLSI Training Center aims to provide practical knowledge of industrial chip design work (The training structure of Ulkasemi VLSI Training Institute (UVTI) has been prepared.

In the first phase, training will be provided in the following subjects:
- IC Layout Design
- IC Physical Design
- Circuit Design
This training will further enhance the skills of students in working with EDA tools. The center will be taught by experienced and skilled engineers of Ulkasemi.
In the future, firmware development and more IT-based subjects will be included in this training program to gain more knowledge.
