Diplomatic Desk:
UAE Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al-Hamoudi has assured Bangladesh of all kinds of cooperation in the energy sector. The Ambassador gave this assurance during a meeting with Anindya Islam Amit, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, on Thursday (June 4, 2026) afternoon. During this time, the Honorable State Minister for Power and the Ambassador held important discussions on matters related to the mutual interests of both countries.

The State Minister for Power said that the United Arab Emirates has historically been one of the main and reliable sources of import of crude oil and petroleum products for Bangladesh. He reiterated to the Ambassador the issue of bringing Bangladesh under the “Bangladesh First” policy framework to protect ourselves from the increase or sudden shock in the price of energy in the global market. In addition, State Minister Anindya Islam Amit informed the Ambassador about the expansion of LNG trade, avoiding spot market volatility, modernizing Bangladesh’s power and energy grid, reducing carbon emissions, supporting the construction of automated sub-stations and fuel bunkering facilities near ports. In particular, he highlighted the issue of providing investment and technical assistance to the government of Bangladesh to convert fertilizer factories and heavy steel industries from natural gas to green hydrogen or green ammonia, just as the United Arab Emirates is building a hub or center for green hydrogen production in that country. At this time, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates assured his government’s commitment and all kinds of cooperation in the development and expansion of Bangladesh’s power and energy sectors.
Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al-Hamoudi expressed his strong determination to take this historic partnership between the two countries to new heights. Also present at the event were Energy Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam, Power Secretary Mirana Mahrukh, and United Arab Emirates Embassy official Altap Hossain.
