Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, “If today’s children can develop themselves properly in the future, then it will be possible to build a beautiful and prosperous Bangladesh in the future.” He said that the government is working to develop sports as one of the potential fields of profession and livelihood, along with the physical and mental development of the country’s children and adolescents.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the closing and award distribution ceremony of the national-level major sports competition for adolescents ‘Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26’ organized at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital on Monday (July 27, 2026) afternoon under the theme ‘Sports become a profession, family will gain confidence’.

At the ceremony, the Prime Minister handed over awards to the winners of various national-level events. Earlier, she circled the field and responded to the greetings of the children and teenagers present in the gallery and exchanged greetings with them. At that time, the entire stadium was filled with the excitement of the students.

The Prime Minister enjoyed the girls’ football final and the boys’ and girls’ 100-meter sprint competition. Later, she also enjoyed the mesmerizing display presented by the students.

The first edition of the ‘Natun Kudi Sports 2025-2026’, organized as part of the government’s election pledge to establish sports as a profession and means of livelihood, began on May 2 from the Sylhet District Stadium. Organized under the slogan ‘On the path of dreams, with victory’, about 170,000 young athletes aged 12 to 14 from the upazila and district levels participated in eight disciplines. The organizers believe that this initiative will become an important milestone in the development of the sports talent of the country’s children and teenagers.

The event was chaired by State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque and welcomed by Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam.
Home Minister Salah Uddin Ahmed, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Women, Children and Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain were also present at the event.
