Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has called on foreign investors to take investment opportunities in Bangladesh.

He made this call as the chief guest at the inauguration of the “Meet Bangladesh Exposition” under the Export Competitiveness for Jobs (EC4J) project at the International Convention City Bashundhara on Thursday (April 24, 2025) morning.

The Trade Advisor said, “Our exports are very dependent on one product and we should diversify our exports. We need to utilize our growing population for sustainable economic growth. For this, we need to eliminate corruption and increase transparency.”
He said, “The Bangladesh Development Authority (BIDA) recently held a successful international investment conference to increase investment in the country. There, we informed foreign investors about our capabilities and opportunities.”

I sincerely respect the entrepreneurs in Bangladesh who have brought Bangladesh to this stage despite various obstacles. I would like to thank those who have brought their products here to display and the foreign buyers as well, added the advisor.
It is worth noting that more than 120 companies have participated in the exhibition. International sourcing agents and buyers from various countries including Singapore, Libya, Colombia, Algeria, United Arab Emirates, India, Bhutan, Maldives, Malaysia have participated in it. They will visit various Bangladeshi manufacturing industries after the exhibition.


World Bank Bangladesh Senior Operation Officer and Acting Country Director Sohail Qasim and Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association President Shamim Ahmed spoke as special guests at the event.
World Bank Senior Private Sector Specialist Hosna Ferdous Sumi also spoke.
Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Additional Secretary (Exports) of the Ministry of Commerce and Project Director of the EC4J Project, delivered the closing speech. Sheikh Md. Abdur Rahman, Deputy Project Director of the EC4J Project, delivered the welcome speech.
