Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has called for increased participation of traders in TCB activities to stand by the country’s millions of underprivileged families.
He made this call as the chief guest at a business talk program titled “Trade with TCB” organized by the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) at the Army Golf Club in Dhaka on Wednesday (April 23, 2025) afternoon.

Sheikh Bashiruddin said that the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) was not free from the corruption that took place in various sectors of the country before the August 5 revolution. I have found a lot of evidence of it during my visits to different parts of the country.
Stating that there have been widespread irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries in the past, he said that during my visits to different parts of the country, I have seen the TCB card of the owner of a jute mill, the owner of a five-story building and three cards in the houses of those working in the administration.
He said, from the reflection of corruption that he saw in different regions, it seems that the trust in the government’s management and field administration in the minds of people will never work if competent people see that their rights are being violated (deprived) by corrupt people every day and this corruption is socially and socially holding us back.
Mentioning the desire to bring about changes in the activities of TCB, the Commerce Advisor said, I want to bring TCB to a rational level during my tenure.
Mentioning that the government has purchased goods worth 12-14 thousand crore taka for one crore families, he said, we want to see the worthy use of this money. We want to select worthy beneficiaries for this and at the same time we want to purchase more goods with this money. That is why we want to see the participation of traders in the work of TCB. Through this, trade possibilities will increase, people will regain their rightful place.
Due to the overall efforts, the market system was good last Ramadan. Stating that many departments and organizations have worked for the transition of the market from a corrupt system that created many criminals, that is, we have worked as a government, he said, as a result, a competitive system and trust have been created in the market. He also added that we want to move away from the corrupt system.
Secretary (Routine Responsibilities) of the Ministry of Commerce Dr. Nazneen Kawsar Chowdhury spoke as a special guest at the event. Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad, Chairman of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech.
