With the theme “Tourism of the Future: Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence,” World Tourism Day 2026 was celebrated across the country today, Sunday (September 27, 2026), amidst great enthusiasm and colorful festivities.
To mark the occasion, various programs were organized in the capital, Dhaka, as well as in districts and tourist destinations across the country. Events in the capital included a vibrant rally, a bicycle procession, and guided city tours for underprivileged children. Rallies, discussion meetings, cultural programs, and other events involving local tourism stakeholders were also held in various locations nationwide.
People from all walks of life—including Members of Parliament, district administrations, public and private institutions, tourism-related businesses and organizations, local communities, media personnel, and volunteers—participated spontaneously in these programs. Thanks to their collective initiative, sincere cooperation, and participation, this year’s World Tourism Day celebration was a lively and resounding success.
M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone involved—including Members of Parliament, district administrations, Tourist Police, the Bangladesh Tourism Board, the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, local government representatives, law enforcement agencies, tourism stakeholders, professional organizations, entrepreneurs, media personnel, volunteers, and the general public—for their cooperation and participation in successfully implementing the World Tourism Day programs.
The Minister stated that coordinated initiatives involving the government, the private sector, local communities, and all tourism stakeholders are crucial to harnessing Bangladesh’s tourism potential. We must work together to transform the country’s tourism sector into one that is modern, safe, sustainable, and people-friendly by ensuring the optimal use of technology and artificial intelligence.
The Minister called for collective efforts to build a safe, sustainable, modern, and people-friendly tourism industry in Bangladesh. Additionally, he extended his sincere greetings and congratulations to the people of the country and everyone associated with the tourism sector on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
