The Postal Department is a service-oriented institution, so gaining public trust is the most important thing here. If the quality of service can be improved, people’s trust in the Postal Department will be stronger.
This was said by Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology and Minister of Science and Technology, at a meeting with officials after visiting the GPO in the capital on Saturday (March 14, 2026).
The minister said that Dhaka GPO is a traditional and landmark institution of the Postal Department of the country. It is the responsibility of everyone concerned to keep the environment of this institution clean, orderly and effective. He also said that it is possible to make the Postal Department a more modern and service-friendly institution with joint efforts.
Speaking as a special guest, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunication Department, Abdun Naser Khan, said that this traditional campus of the Postal Department is an important asset of ours. We want it to be used effectively. Calling upon the concerned, the secretary further said that initiatives should be taken for quick cleaning, repair and proper use so that no questions arise about this asset in the future. If necessary, the ministry will cooperate in terms of financing or other assistance.
The meeting was chaired by Director General of the Postal Department Kazi Asadul Islam and was attended by officials from various levels of the Postal Department and concerned persons.
