UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI) leaders met with Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin
The meeting was held on Sunday (January 5, 2025) morning at the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce.
The meeting discussed in detail the bilateral trade and commerce between the two countries and the investment potential in Bangladesh.
Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin called on Bangladeshi businessmen in the UK to invest in this country and said, “Invest in Bangladesh, contribute to the development of the country. Your role is very important in the development of trade relations between the two countries.”
The advisor called on business leaders to invest in jute products, tourism, pharmaceuticals and telecom sectors. He said that the investment environment in Bangladesh is currently good. There are no obstacles to investment. The government is working to ensure all the benefits to investors.
UKBCCI leaders expressed their interest in investing in Bangladesh National Tea Board, government telecom sector and education sector to increase the use of artificial intelligence.
The leaders also demanded the establishment of special agricultural zones (Agricultural Based EPZ) to increase seafood export, food processing and green farming facilities.
UKBCCI Chairman Iqbal Ahmed, President MG Maula Mia, Founding President Bazlur Rashid, MP of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom Dr. Rupa Haque and others spoke at the meeting.
Secretary (Routine Responsibilities) of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim was present at the meeting.
