TCB products to start selling in truck sales in 64 districts from Wednesday: Commerce Advisor

Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said, to ensure benefits for low-income people,

TCB products will start selling in truck sales in 64 districts from next Wednesday. This program is already underway in six districts. The program will be added to 56 new districts.

He said this to the District Administrators at a virtual meeting regarding the sale of TCB products through smart cards on Sunday (March 2, 2025) afternoon.

Sheikh Bashiruddin said, we want to reach TCB products to one crore marginalized people. District Administrators will have to play a role in selecting the real beneficiaries. He called on the District Administrators to work sincerely to reach all beneficiaries with smart cards by the 17th of this month.

Addressing the District Administrators, the advisor said that 5.7 million beneficiaries will receive products through smart cards. Those whose smart card activities have not yet been completed but whose names are on the list will also receive the products. In addition, products will be sold to the general public through truck sales in 64 districts from March 5.

Sheikh Bashiruddin said that the district administrators should ensure that no one hoards during Ramadan. At the same time, consumers should be encouraged not to shop for the entire month. If they buy products for the entire month or seven days at once, some people increase the prices due to supply shortages.

He said, we want to establish justice. No one will be oppressed, but if someone oppresses, they will not be spared. At this time, he called on the district administrators to deploy all their strength to prevent injustice.

Stating that the very first step in establishing social justice is to select the beneficiaries of the social security system like TCB, he said, if you can ensure this, your (district administrators) acceptance among the people will increase. People will give you respect, added the trade advisor.

At this time, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman, Additional Secretary (Export) Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad, Divisional Commissioners of various departments and Deputy Commissioners of 64 districts participated virtually.
