Following Bangladesh’s historic success in tariff reduction talks with the US, the Prime Minister’s Advisor has extended his warmest greetings and appreciation to the country’s negotiating team in a congratulatory message.
“We are very proud to announce that Bangladesh has concluded a landmark trade agreement with the US. This success is a strong testament to our diplomatic efforts. Being able to negotiate a 20% tariff rate, which is 17 points lower than the previous estimate, is a testament to the strategic leadership of our negotiating team and their unwavering commitment to protecting the country’s economic interests,” he said.
He added, “Since February of this year, Bangladesh’s negotiating team has worked tirelessly and successfully moved through this complex process. The discussions included not only tariffs, but also important issues related to non-tariff barriers and national security. Through this agreement, Bangladesh’s comparative advantage is preserved, access to the US market is increased, and our national interests are protected.”
The Chief Advisor said, “This achievement highlights Bangladesh’s growing capabilities and position in the international arena. At the same time, it has opened the door to new possibilities—paving the way for faster growth, development, and lasting prosperity. Bangladesh’s future is now brighter.”
He added, “Today’s achievement bears witness to Bangladesh’s bold economic vision and strong morale.”
