Switzerland keen to increase investment in Bangladesh

Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Rengli paid a courtesy call and meeting with Opposition Leader and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP.

The meeting was held at the Opposition Leader’s office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 11:30 am on Tuesday (June 23). The ambassador was accompanied by Head of Political, Economic and Communication Affairs of the Swiss Embassy Alberto Giovannitti and Senior Political, Economic and Press Officer Khaled Chowdhury.

The meeting was held in a cordial and cordial atmosphere. In it, detailed discussions were held on the post-election political and overall situation in Bangladesh, bilateral relations and Switzerland’s investment prospects in Bangladesh.

In the discussion, both sides expressed optimism about further expansion of economic cooperation and investment between Bangladesh and Switzerland. At the same time, it was expressed that Switzerland’s strong support for Bangladesh will continue in the future.

In the meeting, Ambassador Reto Rengli emphasized the need to further strengthen democracy and democratic institutions in Bangladesh. In addition, the importance of the positive role of the government, opposition parties and civil society in resolving the Rohingya crisis, improving the human rights situation and ensuring a stable environment in the country was also discussed.

At the time, Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman thanked the Ambassador for his active role and called on Switzerland to cooperate more actively in renewable energy (green energy), trade expansion and various development sectors.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Opposition Leader Barrister Mir Ahmed bin Kashem Arman MP and Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee Member Ali Ahmed Mabrur.
