Supreme Court’s attention will be drawn to the speedy implementation of the verdict in the Ramisa murder case: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the attention of the Supreme Court and the Attorney General’s Office will be drawn to the speedy implementation of the verdict in the much-discussed Ramisa murder case so that the death reference hearing can be brought forward in a serial manner by following the legal process.

He said this in response to questions from journalists at his office at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (June 7, 2026) afternoon.

Terming the verdict in the Ramisa murder case as a historical milestone in the history of the country’s judicial system and police investigation activities, the minister said, “The charge sheet has been submitted to the court after completing the DNA test and autopsy in a very short time. Even the court judges and concerned officials and employees have canceled their Eid leave (judicial leave) and completed the judicial activities of the case. This is a unique example of state and social responsibility.”

He said that the Bangladesh Police has shown great commendable professionalism and professionalism in the speedy completion of investigations into several complex cases, including the recent sensational Ramisa rape and brutal murder, and the arrest of the accused.

The Home Minister expressed hope that if the next stages of the judicial process are also completed quickly, the people of the country will have more confidence in the establishment of justice and it will serve as a strong message to the criminals.

He said that the government is following a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against heinous crimes like violence against women and children and will continue to take a strict stance in suppressing such crimes in the future.
