Strict action will be taken if someone takes law into their own hands – Home Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that the law and order situation has improved a lot from before. No organized mob will be tolerated in the future. Strict action will be taken against anyone who takes law into their own hands.

The advisor said these things while talking to reporters after visiting the Airport Police Station in Sylhet on Thursday (April 10, 2025) afternoon.

Urging everyone to take a strong stand against the mob, the advisor said that sometimes the police are late in taking action. This is because, for various reasons, there is a shortage of police vehicles and related facilities. As you know, many police stations and vehicles were burned down on August 5. And we have not been able to provide them with new vehicles yet. However, efforts are being made to fill that shortage by collecting old vehicles from different places and purchasing some new vehicles. Moreover, the police reform and reorganization process is underway. That is why the police have become more active and efficient than before. The advisor expressed hope that the law and order situation will improve further in the future.

Referring to the expectations of the people from the police, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, in order to fulfill the desired expectations of the people, it is necessary to further improve the infrastructure and ancillary facilities of the police station, including accommodation and food for the subordinate forces of the police. On behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, we are working towards that goal.

At this time, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Rezaul Karim, Sylhet Range DIG Md. Mushfequr Rahman and senior officials of the administration were present.

Later, the advisor visited Shantiganj Police Station in Sunamganj. In response to questions from journalists, he said that crimes can happen. However, the main issue is whether the law and order forces are taking legal action in this regard. The law enforcement agencies have been instructed to be vigilant so that no group can create an organized mob in the future and terrorists/criminals cannot commit crimes. Urging media workers to present accurate news, the advisor said that in this way the people will get accurate information, the situation in the country will remain calm. The country and the people will be well.
