Social Welfare Minister inaugurates paved road construction work from Chararhat to Naodapara in Dinajpur

Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain inaugurated the construction work of a paved road from Chararhat in Putimara Union to Naodapara in Nawabganj, Dinajpur on Saturday (April 04, 2026). Upazila and union level public representatives, political leaders, beneficiaries and local residents were present at the event.

In his speech as the chief guest, the minister said that for a long time, the movement of the common people was suffering due to the poor condition of the road. The construction of new paved roads will improve the communication system in the area and give a new impetus to economic activities.

He said that as per the election promise of the current government, relentless work is being done to reach the government’s development programs to the remotest areas of the country. Improving the quality of life of the people through the development of rural infrastructure is the main goal of the government.

The project is being implemented under the Dinajpur Road Development Project. The road, which is about one kilometer long, will be constructed at a cost of Tk 1.5 crore under the supervision of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

Later, the minister distributed Tk 3.62 crore capitation grant cheques to 3,024 orphan children in 106 private orphanages and ashrams in Sadar, Birol, Kaharol, Chirirbandar, Parbatipur, Phulbari, Birampur and Khansama upazilas, among the upazilas that received the first installment of capitation grant for the fiscal year 2025-2026, organized by the District Administration and District Social Services Office at Dinajpur Shishu Academy.

At that time, Bangladesh National Parliament Whip Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia, Member of Parliament Md. Sadiq Riaz, Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam and District Council Administrator Advocate Mofazzal Hossain Dulal were present at the cheque distribution ceremony.

Besides, the minister visited the office of the Deputy Director of the Dinajpur Women’s Affairs Department. He spoke to the officers and employees of the office and instructed them to perform their respective duties with dedication.
