A historic and deeply emotional gathering took place in the capital on Saturday (20 December, 2025) as the janaza of Osman Hadi was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. Hundreds of thousands of mourners from all walks of life attended the funeral prayer, turning the area and its surrounding roads into a sea of people.
The South Plaza and adjacent areas were filled beyond capacity as mourners stood shoulder to shoulder to pay their final respects. Many observed the prayer in solemn silence, while others were seen openly weeping, reflecting the profound sense of loss felt across the nation.
Given the unprecedented turnout, heavy security measures were put in place to maintain order. Army patrols, along with members of various law enforcement agencies, were deployed throughout the area to manage the massive crowd and ensure safety.
