Savor International Limited Hosts Insightful Panel on Challenges and Opportunities in Bangladesh’s Shipbuilding Industry

Savor International Limited successfully hosted a panel discussion titled “Sailing Through Storms: Confronting Obstacles in Shipbuilding Growth” at Hall 2, Bashundhara Convention Center (ICCB) on Saturday (9 November, 2024). The event, held at 11:00 AM, gathered industry leaders, professionals, and experts to address the pressing challenges and promising opportunities in Bangladesh’s burgeoning shipbuilding sector.

The primary goal of the discussion was to explore the obstacles impacting shipbuilding in Bangladesh and identify actionable strategies to foster growth and competitiveness. Participants engaged in in-depth conversations on key topics such as technological advancements, market competition, sustainable practices, and Bangladesh’s positioning on the global stage.

Distinguished panelists included Commodore Mohammad Maksud Alam, (E), BSP, NUP, BCGM, BCGMS, ndc, psc, BN, Director General of the Department of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of Bangladesh; Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Director of Western Marine Shipyard Limited; Capt. Shafiq Bhuiyan, Chairman of Group Nautika; Dr. Tariqul Islam, PhD (Marine Technology, Newcastle, UK), Executive Director at Ananda Shipyard & Slipways Ltd.; Mr. Shamsul Alam, Managing Director of Marine House Limited; and Commodore Wahid Hasan Kutubuddin, NDC, AFWC, PSC, BN.

The panelists discussed various strategic paths for advancing the sector, emphasizing the importance of technological adaptation, sustainable practices, and enhancing Bangladesh’s international competitiveness.
