Savor International Limited held a panel discussion on Bangladesh’s SDG goals and IMO’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

In a significant step towards harmonizing Bangladesh’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) decarbonization efforts, Savor International Limited hosted an important panel discussion. The event, titled “Greener Horizons: Aligning Bangladesh’s SDG Goals with IMO’s Decarbonization Efforts,” took place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 3:30 PM at Hall 2 of the Bashundhara Convention Center.

The panel discussion was graced by the presence of Chief Guest, Marine Engineer Mohammad Obaidullah Ibne Bashir, Engineer & Ship Surveyor & Examiner from the Department of Shipping, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Also present were Mr. Rune Walter, Area Manager, Sales & Marketing, Power Solutions at Scania; Mr. Basel Yousef, CEO of Dredge Yard BV; Mr. Taufiq Omar Hasan, Managing Director of GroupNautika; and Ms. Tasmeem Chowdhury Bonhi, Chairperson of the Department of Public Leadership, Management, and Governance (DPLMG).

During the discussion, experts explored the critical steps needed to reduce carbon emissions, the importance of technological advancements, and the need for alignment with international standards to ensure sustainable maritime and environmental development in Bangladesh.
