Saudia celebrates 46 years in Bangladesh, joins hands with HSBC to strengthen global connectivity

On the occasion of 46 years of operations in Bangladesh, Saudia and HSBC jointly organized a special event titled “Powering Global Connectivity – Celebrating Saudia’s Journey in Bangladesh”.

It was informed at the event that for more than four decades, Saudia has been playing a significant role in strengthening air connectivity between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. Currently, as the largest foreign airline operating in Bangladesh, Saudia operates a maximum of 34 flights per week. Through this, the company is making a significant contribution to family reunions, religious pilgrimages of lakhs of Hajj and Umrah passengers, travel of expatriate workers and expanding trade, tourism and investment between the two countries.

Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam, MP, was present as the chief guest at the event. Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Ibn Dhafer Ibn Ubayyah and Tanvir Ghani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Investment and Capital Markets.

In addition, Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Vice President (Treasury and Taxation) Mohammad Alsilimani, Saudi Arabia’s Country Manager in Bangladesh Salman A. AlAli and HSBC Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md. Mahbub Ur Rahman were present at the event.

At the event, Saudi Arabia presented special honors to various associate organizations and partners who contributed to their 46-year successful journey in Bangladesh.

The speakers at the event said that reliable air communication is very important to further strengthen economic and people-to-people relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. They expressed their determination to further advance the relations between the two countries through improved services, increased connectivity and mutual cooperation in the future.

Meanwhile, HSBC, an international bank with a 160-year tradition, said that they have operations in more than 50 markets around the world. Leveraging its global network as well as deep local market experience, the company is helping businesses grow and expand internationally through cross-border cash management, trade finance, treasury, financing, and digital banking services.
