Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s 28 steps in 28 days, his advisor Mahdi Amin, has described it as an ‘unprecedented campaign’.

On Tuesday (March 17, 2026) morning, he highlighted the Prime Minister’s 28 steps in a status on his Facebook.

Mahdi Amin said, today is March 17. Exactly a month ago, the BNP formed the government under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who was elected by the people’s vote. In just 28 days, he has worked tirelessly to fulfill his election pledge at every moment of running the state. These steps are not just administrative activities, but are a clear reflection of his commitment to the people.

Among the advisors with the rank of State Minister, Mahdi Amin is in charge of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Ministry of Labor and Employment.

In the status, Mahdi Amin highlighted the steps taken by the government in the 28 days and said that these steps have enlightened every aspect of social security, economy, administration, education, health, security and state values.

Social Security and Humanitarian Assistance

  1. Family Card Program: 37,567 families have been provided with family cards, with a monthly assistance of 2,500 taka per card. Implementation in just 21 days is an example of the government’s humanitarian priorities.
  2. Honorarium to Imams, Muazzins and Religious Servants: 4,908 Imams-Muazzins of mosques, 990 priests of temples, principals of 144 Buddhist monasteries and pastors and pastors of 396 churches are receiving monthly honorarium.
  3. Distribution of relief and gifts on Eid: Allocating saris, three-pieces and Haji handkerchiefs to the helpless and poor in the constituency. Eid gift for all sanitation workers.
  4. Institutional Zakat System: Initiative to introduce institutional Zakat system in the context of discussions with scholars to reach the poor and support welfare activities.

Agriculture and Rural Economy

  1. Farmers’ Card and Agricultural Loan Waiver: The program will start soon by providing the much-awaited Farmers’ Card to about 27,000 farmers, loan waiver of up to a maximum of Tk 10,000 for about 1.2 million small and marginal farmers, helping them in farming with new enthusiasm.
  2. Nationwide Canal Digging Program: Digging of 20,000 kilometers of canals and water bodies, has already started in 54 districts. Irrigation will improve, waterlogging will reduce, employment will increase.

Administrative Reforms and Good Governance

  1. Weekly Office and Office Hours: The Prime Minister is also working on Saturdays. The presence of officials by 9 am is mandatory.
  2. Reduction of VVIP protocol: Unprecedented changes in traffic arrangements due to the Prime Minister’s very simple movement, people are also encouraged to follow traffic laws.
  3. Limited formalities at the airport: A senior minister, Chief Whip, Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister will be present.
  4. Cancellation of special privileges for MPs: Historic decision not to accept duty-free cars and government plots, which will reduce state expenditure and restore public confidence.

Economy and market stability

  1. Market monitoring and energy stability: Prevent price hike during Ramadan and Eid, purchase of spot LNG to keep power supply running even amid global energy instability.
  2. Facilitation of foreign investment: Removal of the obligation of prior approval of the central bank for repatriation of foreign investment up to Tk 100 crore.
  3. Ensuring salaries and bonuses of workers: Payment of arrears and Eid bonuses to workers of all industries on time. 2,500 crore taka allocated for export-oriented industries including garments.
  4. Reopening of sick and closed industries: Phased reopening of closed factories and industries owned by the government to increase employment.
  5. Increasing local initiatives and employment: Preparing a list of under-utilized economic zones, EPZs, BSCIC areas, hi-tech parks and industry clusters and starting to create an ecosystem with potential businesses and local universities there.

Education and human resource development

  1. Cancellation of re-admission fees and cancellation of lottery: Cancellation of re-admission fees every year, modern admission tests or interviews instead of lottery, decision to increase facilities and benefits for teachers.
  2. Assistance to higher education abroad: Bank guarantee without collateral of maximum 1 million taka in state financial assistance.
  3. Recruitment of religious teachers: Recruitment of 9,000 teachers, strengthening moral and religious values.
  4. Sports Development and New Buds Program: Educational institutions’ grounds are open to children and adolescents, New Buds Culture, Sports and Quran Recitation Initiative, Recruitment of 18 sports teachers, 3 each in 6 sports at the upazila level has started.

Health and Public Welfare

  1. E-Health Card and Medical Center: E-Health Card launched to provide healthcare, recruitment of 1 lakh health workers has started, 80% of whom will be women.
  2. Dengue Prevention Campaign: Weekly national cleanliness campaign, activities in coordination with local administration and community.

Law and Order and Security

  1. Measures against extortion: Intelligence and law enforcement forces are taking prompt action. Maintaining law and order is the highest priority.
  2. Women’s Safety and Pink Bus: Instructions to launch pink buses operated entirely by women, prevention of cyberbullying.

State Discipline and Values

  1. Limiting state iftar and saving electricity: Half the fans and ACs in government offices, Iftar is limited to prevent waste.
  2. Illegal Shop Removal: Illegal shops were removed after 20 years at Sugandha Sea Beach in Cox’s Bazar and a coordinated initiative was taken across the country.
  3. Martyr’s Day: In addition to declaring and observing ‘National Martyr’s Day’ on February 25, importance was attached to a transparent trial of the Peelkhana massacre.
  4. Third Terminal of Shahjalal Airport in Dhaka: Initiative to quickly launch the third terminal through a high-level meeting and by deciding on multilateral discussions and action plans.
  5. Free Internet in Airports and Moving Trains: Instructions to set up a free WiFi system like in developed countries at Shahjalal, Shah Amanat and MAG Osmani airports in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet and inauguration at Syedpur Airport.

    At the end of the status, Mahdi Amin said that the steps taken in the first 28 days of the formation of the government are a reflection of Tarique Rahman’s strong leadership, tireless work and commitment to the people. His leadership is thus capturing the hopes and feelings of the common people, implementing their dreams and aspirations. In this unprecedented journey, the new generation will also prepare for the future of the country, God willing. That is why he (the Prime Minister) said, ‘We will all work together, we will build the country, Bangladesh first.’
