Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has visited the summer exercise of the Bangladesh Army. This is the first time in the country’s history that a Prime Minister has personally visited the summer training area of the army and spent a long time with the field-level soldiers.
On Tuesday (July 7, 2026) at 9:20 am, the Prime Minister made a surprise visit to the summer training area of 8 Bir under the 9 Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army in Singair Upazila of Manikganj. Later, she inspected the vast training area on foot.




During the visit, the Prime Minister toured different parts of the ‘Farm Base’ and was informed in detail about the training activities, strategic preparations and overall exercise from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and the Commanding Officer (CO) of the unit in charge. He listened attentively to a commander’s verbal operational order and witnessed the ‘Raid’ exercise conducted by the soldiers.
During this time, the Prime Minister inspected the position of the soldiers on the battlefield, tactics, use of weapons and various aspects of realistic training. He went down to the army bunker and exchanged views on tactics with the officers and soldiers participating in the exercise. He also went to the soldiers who were camouflaged under the leaves of the trees to inquire about them and encouraged them to perform their duties.
At one stage, the Prime Minister took the food prepared for the soldiers participating in the exercise and drank tea with them.
Later, in his directional speech to the soldiers, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the people of the country have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army. Praising the glorious role of the army in dealing with national crises and maintaining law and order, he emphasized on professional training, discipline and maintaining maximum readiness. At the same time, he wished the Bangladesh Army continued success.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq and senior officials of the Bangladesh Army during the inspection of the exercise.
