A day after assuming office after a landslide victory in the 13th National Parliament elections, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid deep tribute to the martyrs of the great liberation war.

He paid this tribute by laying a wreath at the National Memorial located in Savar, near the capital, at around 11 am today, Wednesday (February 18, 2026).

First, as the Prime Minister, he paid tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the great liberation war by laying a wreath at the altar of the memorial. Later, he laid a wreath again along with the newly formed cabinet members. At this time, the Prime Minister and the cabinet members stood in silence for a while to show deep respect for the memory of the martyrs.

After paying tribute, the Prime Minister signed the visitors’ book. He also planted a ‘Parijat’ tree sapling in the memorial premises.
