Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has visited the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARSO) and directed to develop the organization as a modern, up-to-date, self-reliant and space research organization capable of making an effective contribution to national security and development.
The Prime Minister arrived at the SPARSO head office in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon, in the capital at 9:15 am on Sunday (June 28, 2026). She visited the organization unexpectedly outside the pre-scheduled program.

During the visit, the Prime Minister toured various departments of the organization under the Ministry of Defense and exchanged views with the officials and employees.
At this time, SPARSO Chairman Md. Rashidul Islam informed the Prime Minister about the overall activities, ongoing projects and future plans of the organization. Later, officials from various departments gave detailed presentations on their research, innovations and ongoing activities.

After the briefing, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman directed to take necessary initiatives to enhance the research capacity of SPARSO, achieve technological excellence and play a more effective role in national development and security. He said that SPARSO must be transformed into a modern institution to make the country’s space research and remote sensing technology more modern and effective.
During the visit, Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Defense Secretary Md. Ashraf Uddin, Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, Private Secretary-2 Md. Mehedul Islam, Deputy Press Secretary-1 Zahidul Islam Rony and senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and SPARSO were present.
It is worth noting that the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARSO) is a national institution engaged in the research, development and application of space science, satellite technology and remote sensing technology in the country.
