Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inaugurated the Khordd Canal re-excavation program in Shahrasti Upazila of Chandpur.
This Saturday (May 16, 2026) afternoon, he officially inaugurated the program by unveiling a plaque at the ‘Khordd Canal’ re-excavation site in Uaruk Bazar area of Tamta Dakshin Union of Shahrasti Upazila.
After the inauguration, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman went down to the banks of the canal and took part in the re-excavation program by cutting the soil with his own hands with a spade. Later, he planted trees on both banks of the canal.
At that time, such initiatives were mentioned as timely for local development activities and environmental conservation.
Disaster Management Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, local MP Mominul Haque, District Member Secretary Salim Ulya Selim, Shahrasti Upazila President Ayat Ali Bhuiyan and Vice President Abu Yusuf Rupam, and local leaders were present at the event.
