Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasizes on ensuring fair price for salt farmers

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, MP has directed the concerned to take necessary steps to improve the living standards of the country’s salt farmers and ensure fair price for the salt produced.

He gave these instructions at a meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday (May 11, 2026). The meeting discussed in detail the current situation of salt farmers, production costs, market management and various support programs acceptable for their socio-economic development.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Finance and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Majumder, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce Abdur Rahim Khan, Industries Secretary Obaidur Rahman and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Chairman Saiful Islam and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
