Prime Minister Tarique Rahman approves national budget for fiscal year 2026-27 in special cabinet meeting

The national budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 was approved in a special cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The special meeting, which began at 10 am on Thursday (June 11, 2026) at the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, ended at 1 pm. As per the customary practice, the national budget was approved in a special cabinet meeting before the budget is presented in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The meeting reviewed various aspects of the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-2027 and approved it. At the same time, discussions were held on the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026.

After the special cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will join the Jatiya Sangsad session at 3 pm. Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will be with him at that time.

The Finance Minister will then present the supplementary budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year and the budget proposal for the 2026-2027 fiscal year in the National Parliament. According to relevant sources, this budget, prepared with emphasis on the country’s economic growth, investment, employment, social security and development activities, will determine the direction of the country’s overall economic progress.
