President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for strengthened cooperation from China to boost investment in Bangladesh and to create an environment conducive to the safe, dignified, and sustainable repatriation of the Rohingyas.
He made this call on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) when the outgoing Chinese Ambassador, Yao Wen, paid a farewell call on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the President praised China’s constructive role in addressing the Rohingya crisis. He stated that China’s initiatives and cooperation could play a vital role in ensuring a sustainable solution to the crisis and facilitating the safe, dignified, and sustainable repatriation of the Rohingyas.
The President emphasized the importance of further increasing Chinese investment in Bangladesh. At the same time, he expressed hope for the further expansion of cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest between the two nations.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wished the outgoing Chinese Ambassador, Yao Wen, success and a bright future in his career. The President gratefully acknowledged his contributions toward developing Bangladesh-China relations and further advancing the friendly ties between the two countries.
Discussions were also held on deepening and making the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and China more multifaceted.
