In a unique event at Daffodil International University (DIU), members of the Portuguese Royal Family—H.R.H. Dom Duarte, Duke of Braganza; H.R.H. Duchess Isabel Ines de Heredia; and H.R.H. Prince Afonso de Santa Maria—arrived in Bangladesh. Their visit to Daffodil Smart City further enriched the educational, cultural and renewable ties between Bangladesh and Portugal.

During the visit, the royal family members inaugurated the ‘Duke of Braganza Heritage Culinary Studio’, which will provide an opportunity to engage the youth of Bangladesh with world food heritage. They then visited the Daffodil Institute of Social Sciences (DISS) and participated in a motivational interactive session titled “Fair Pay for a Fair World.”

A new chapter in education and entrepreneurship development was inaugurated with the signing of two important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
— The first is between DIU and the London Tea Exchange, through which joint activities will be conducted in global tea culture, entrepreneurship development and academic research.
— The second is the “Duke of Braganza Youth Leadership & Service Program – Bangladesh Chapter”, which will develop leadership qualities of the youth of Bangladesh and involve them in international service activities.
At the end of the visit, a fascinating cultural program was presented by DIU students, which will be remembered as a bright symbol of Bangladesh-Portugal friendship and cultural harmony.
