‘Paper mills including Karnaphuli will be developed to meet the country’s paper demand’ – Industry Advisor

Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said that the government is working to increase the paper production capacity of Karnaphuli Paper Mill. If the factory goes into full swing again, it will become a profitable enterprise.

He also said that Karnaphuli Paper Mills and Khulna News Print Mill will be modernized and developed to meet the country’s paper demand. If this is done, the country’s paper demand can be met and exported.

Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said this at a view-sharing meeting organized during his visit to Karnaphuli Paper Mills Limited (KPML) in Rangamati today, Friday (June 27, 2025). Also present at the view-sharing meeting were Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Chairman Md. Fazlur Rahman, Rangamati Hill District Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Habib Ullah, and Police Superintendent Dr. SM Farhad Hossain.

In the exchange of views, Mohammad Shahid Ullah, Managing Director of Karnaphuli Paper Mills Limited, presented the ongoing activities and future plans of the mill.

Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman said that today’s exchange of views and inspection will play an important role in the implementation of the project undertaken for the development of Karnaphuli Paper Mill. The paper demanded in the country must be produced domestically.

After the exchange of views, Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, along with Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman, BCIC Chairman Md. Fazlur Rahman, inspected the activities of Karnaphuli Paper Mills Limited and spoke to the mill workers.
