Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on being elected as the President of Bangladesh. At the same time, he invited President Mirza Fakhrul to visit Pakistan with a view to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

In his congratulatory message, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed the hope that under the leadership of President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Bangladesh will continue its progress and achieve further progress for the welfare of the people.
Zardari said that Pakistan and Bangladesh enjoy close relations based on common history, religious and cultural ties. Welcoming the recent positive momentum in bilateral relations between the two countries, he expressed the hope that cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan will further increase in various areas of mutual interest.
The Pakistani President said that he looks forward to working with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to further strengthen the relations between the two countries and increase people-to-people contacts and cooperation.
At the time, Zardari invited President Fakhrul to visit Pakistan at his convenience. He expressed the hope that the visit would further strengthen the relations between Dhaka and Islamabad as well as create new opportunities to deepen cooperation in various fields.
