Denmark’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Moller, Norwegian Ambassador Haakon Arald Gulbrandsen and Swedish Head of Political and Trade Ole Lundin paid a courtesy call on Supradeep Chakma, Advisor on Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).
During the meeting, the Nordic Mission representatives reiterated that indigenous peoples’ issues are a priority not only in their own countries but also in foreign and development policies, including Bangladesh.

They commended the activities of the Advisor on CHT and welcomed the efforts of the interim government to properly include indigenous peoples’ issues in the reform agenda. A constructive exchange of views took place on the development prospects of CHT, the rights of indigenous peoples and possible cooperation from the Nordic countries.
During the meeting, Advisor Supradeep Chakma mentioned that Nordic support for the establishment of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Bangladesh is also a positive step for the CHT people.
Representatives of the Nordic mission said that they are interested in engaging in constructive discussions to ensure the rights, peace and socio-economic development of indigenous peoples.
