No need to go to Florida to learn mosquito control: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has made significant comments on a proposal to visit Florida, USA, to inspect mosquito control activities. He said, there is no need to go abroad to learn mosquito control; it is possible to get an idea of ​​effective methods just by standing next to any pond in the country.

On Monday (June 1), a proposal was sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and five other city corporation officials to visit Florida, USA, to inspect innovative mosquito control activities.

Sources said that the Local Government Department sent a summary to the Prime Minister’s Office seeking approval for the visit funded by a foreign company, Valent BioSciences LLC. The aim of the proposed visit was to observe various modern and innovative mosquito control and control activities on the ground.

In a brief comment on the issue, the Prime Minister said, “There is no need to go to Florida, USA, to learn or see mosquito control. Just by staying next to any pond in the country after evening for two-three hours, it will be possible to come up with many innovative methods of mosquito control.”

The Prime Minister’s comment has sparked widespread discussion in administrative circles and social media. Many are seeing it as a clear message to re-evaluate the rationality, cost-saving and public interest of government officials’ foreign trips.
